Welcome back – to you and your taste buds!

Welcome back, to both of us! It has been a long time since I last said a word, I know so I think I owe your taste buds to make it up to them, even if only a little ;)

I have still been cooking, but not as elaborately as I was before, also because it soon became my job to make dinner every night at the house, and I needed a bit of a break.

Speaking of which, there have been so many changes in my life. The first one is a break, after 6 years of being in a relationship. 2010 was my year to learn and grow and 2011 is starting to turning out to be a year in which I will move on and up in the world, using what I have learnt in the last few years to further myself in both my career and to make my dreams become reality (And get off my arse to make them happen) Also perhaps get a new camera as my old one does not like me anymore – so apologising now for the quality of photos, but at least I have the camera on my phone to use.

I have also started trying to be more green and earth friendly and that is to the animals too. If you have not watched Earthlings or Food Inc, I suggest you do it.. NOW

It prompted my thinking about how these poor animals get treated sometimes and also about where our food comes from. I felt a need to be “closer to my roots” so I started growing tomatos, potatos, mint, basil, thyme, strawberries and chillis. I also wanted to feel less city living and more country living – so I started my mini farmyard with 2 rabbits and 3 chickens. They then started to realise how good the goodies in the garden tasted – so my plants are far worse off than when I started (What is left of them) All 3 chickens were meant to all be hens, and that would mean 3 eggs a day.

I do not usually eat yolk, unless it is mixed into something. That was something I started as a child, but the guys at the house have said that the eggs are far richer and tastier. Only problem being that they are a little small, and far less white and more yolk.

The one turned out to be a rooster who in fact learnt to “cockadoodle doo” last weekend, much to our neighbours dismay I am sure!

Moving on to greener pastures, but a home where I cannot have any animals – so it is a completely fresh start for me – and a good excuse to start growing my herb and vegetable garden again. And spend time concentrating on me J

One thing I am looking forward to, is a new home – and a new kitchen (but nothing like the one I had before) as well as having more time on my hands – to cook and then to share my adventures in the kitchen with you.

I still have 2 weeks to pack and then move after that, so I may be quiet for just that little bit longer. After that, I will do my best to make you hungry again.

I hope that will be soon :)
