It is that time of year again, and the Good Food and Wine Show in Cape Town is happening from the 26th to the 29th of May 2011 at the CTICC.
After a month that has already been filled with foodie events to tempt any self confessed foodie or even someone who just eats to live instead of living to eat, this is just the icing on the cake; the tip of the iceberg.
The one event that precedes all others, the event that keeps me counting down until the last day, also one that just gets bigger and better each and every year.
In one place, you will have all you need for your culinary senses to come alive. Some of the exciting things on this gourmet smorgasbord this year:
- BBC Hands on Workshops - Personal and hands on experience from the celebrity chefs – learn from the best, so that you too can be the best.
- Wine Theatre - One way to tour the wine lands without having to drive from one side of our country to the other, only to the show and home again.
- Lindt Chocolate Theatre - Demonstrations from one of SA’s finest pastry chefs, Dimon Simatos, this is one for the chocoholics.
- Wellbeing Theatre - Learn how we really are what we eat and join the movement of “Meatless Mondays”
- The Amarula Outdoor Experience - There is far more to outdoor cooking than just having a braai, be inspired by the outdoor dining experience from having a barbeque to a simple family meal.
- Cbeebies Little Cooks Zone - Let your little ones spark of their passion for food and learn about healthy eating as well as having fun and being kept busy all at the same time.
- Taste of the Cape - Sample menus from some of the Cape’s top restaurants so if you enjoyed Taste of Cape Town, this year, here is another reason to go to The Good Food and Wine Show too.
Two of the highlighted celebrity chefs who will be gracing our shores this month (and leave us all in a sweaty panic for tickets to see them) are James Martin and Heston Blumenthal and I can assure you the tickets just to see these two culinary artists will disappear before they have barely started selling this year, so book your tickets early!
For those of you who are new in the food world, James Martin first appeared on TV in 1996 and has continued to share his knowledge, and beautiful smile with us, since. I met him a few years back and what a treat that was. Find out more about James Martin here.
Heston Blumenthal is a self taught culinary alchemist who, like many of us, took a decade to realise his dreams. He is the owner of the Fat Duck, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Berkshire who is also know for his unusual use of ingredients, much like the bacon and egg ice cream. Intrigued? Find more about Heston Blumenthal here.
In addition to these fantastic highlights and world renowned chefs, there are also many producers offering tastings of products from cheeses and olives, to wines and liqueurs as well as food stalls and so much more. You need to go and see it yourself to believe it.
So if you would like to get your tickets to the gourmet extravaganza of the year, I advise you to go to Computicket and get your tickets for the 2011 Good Food and Wine Show. Every year gets better, and I promise you, that you wont be disappointed.
Already salivating? Me too, Now I really cannot wait for the 16 days countdown. See you there
