Cocktails and Happy hour together do really mean one thing – Happiness!
The origin of happy hour is said to come from the US Navy in the 1920′s where happy hour was a slang term for scheduled entertainment on board a ship where boxing and wrestling bouts took place. Now it is used as a marketing term for a period of time that would normally be more quiet, to offer discounts to ensure more visitors. If you are interested you can read more about happy hour here.
Lately it seems I am becoming more and more of a regular at Banana Jam and with happy hour cocktails at R16.50 who wouldnt do the same?

The vibe at Banana Jam is always a good one, chilled but never too quiet. There are tables inside and outside and a fire outside which is perfect for these winter evenings coming up but hopefully when it is not raining anyway.
Besides their fantastic cocktails their food is always great, and especially, on a monday with their 2 for 1 burgers (and pizza’s I think)
Any place that has their menu online is always one that I like but sadly the banana jam menu is not quite as updated as it should be but that is even more reason to go and try it out for yourself.
I do have a complete weakness for chilli poppers and most Mexican foods and their Coco loco’s hoppin’ jons are always great and there are 4 served on your plate, instead of 3 at most places.
Which is always better for sharing.. or for having more for yourself.
The banana jam cocktail menu has also not been recently updated on their website thats is because my favorite cocktail is not on there…. the Volcano. The perfect cocktail, it is a sexy combination of strawberry daiquiri and pina colada – nice and chilled and looks beautiful.
Many of my friends, enjoy a few of the same cocktails the the popular ones I would say are the hurricane and the green iguana – my favorite is definitely the volcano, and the one love too. Can I have some now please?
But why take it from me.. go for happy hour and try one of everything. Go on, I dare you
So which one is your favorite?
